To sell Medicare plans, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requires that every agent—that’s you—complete annual Medicare and product-specific trainings. 

You need recertification if you’re a current Humana Medicare agent with an active contract and certification.You can choose to certify through either AHIP or NAHU.  



Were you certified to sell Humana Medicare products last year? Do you want to sell them again this year, or do you just want to ensure you receive your renewals? If so, then recertification is required for you.

Please note that if you are unable to complete recertification by the deadline, any commissions, including renewal commissions, will not be paid, your contract with Humana will be impacted and you will not be able to sell Humana plans.   



Similar to certification, you need to pass a Medicare basics course and Humana’s product-specific course to sell our Medicare Advantage and PDP plans. These courses are reinforcements and updates of the information you learned during your initial certification.



If you plan to sell Humana’s Medicare products for Plan Year 2023, you must recertify prior to selling 2023 plans. The deadline is on September 30 for career/DMS agents and November 30, 2022, for partner agents. Recertification courses will launch on June 28 in English and August 9 in Spanish, so you’ll have plenty of time to complete them. 



On or after June 28 at noon Eastern, you can log into Humana MarketPoint University to complete recertification. Certifying through Humana MarketPoint University gets you discounted rates on both AHIP ($125, normally $175) and NAHU ($90, normally $100). 

First, choose whether you want to complete your training through AHIP or NAHU. Both cover your required training on Medicare basics, marketing, enrollment and fraud waste and abuse. And both will give you six attempts to pass.  

Next, you’ll complete the Humana-specific part of recertification. The recertification course includes critical compliance reminders, as well as updated information and changes for the new plan year. You will complete the content with knowledge checks along the way. At the end, you attest that you understand and will follow all Humana guidance.
